My Kitchen Cabinet Makeover – Oak to White!

Farmhouse· Uncategorized

So when we moved into our house about two years ago, I knew there were a lot of projects I wanted to do to make our home feel more “us” and for it to be more our style.

I love the idea of a bright, cozy home with lots of comfy corners and natural light..so that’s kind of what I’ve been going for as I’ve been (very slowly) transforming & decorating our home.

The biggest project I’ve tackled thus far has definitely been our kitchen cabinets. There are still a few (somewhat) smaller projects I want to do in our kitchen to complete it (stain out butcher block darker, re-do the backsplash, change out the sink hardware, etc) but painting our kitchen cabinets has made a HUGE difference & I absolutely love the way they turned out!

This was a big, tedious, time consuming project. But so so so worth it & I would do it again. I did a whole video on the process & transformation so I won’t go into too much detail here, but I love the way our cabinets turned out and our kitchen is SO much brighter.

I did a lot of research as far as what to use, and a lot of you guys recommended getting this kit from Rustoleum (I got Pure White). It comes with pretty much everything you need (minus paint brushes & tarps) and is only $75!! I did end up needing a second kit, but only for a little bit of the white paint.

Also, the black knobs/drawer pulls we installed are from Amazon, you can find those here & here. They are very inexpensive, but have a nice weight to them, and have held up beautifully.

Also, I get a lot of questions of the wear of the cabinet paint. It’s been about 6 months since I painted them and they still look freshly painted. Not stained, no chips, anything. But I will say that I really took my time and my attention to detail was (painfully, lol) in full force throughout the entirety of this project.

Like I said, painting our cabinets myself was SO worth it, & saved a lot of money, but it was a big undertaking! Anyone can definitely do it, just make sure you are prepared to put some work in!! 🙂

xx Becca
