Sunroom Paint Reveal!

Farmhouse· Uncategorized

I am soosososo excited to finally be sharing this!!! Like seriously teeming with excitement that this project is done!

We moved into our house 2 1/2 years ago, and ever since we laid eyes on it I so badly wanted our sunroom or ‘three-season-room’ to be painted white. The room itself is gorgeous – the craftsmanship is seriously incredible! And there are wall to wall windows on three out of four sides so it is really bathed in sunlight. But my house is full of neutral colors…so they warm, cabin feel of the wood just didn’t really vibe with the rest of our home. So…I painted it white!

Like I said, this was a project that had been on my radar since the day we moved in, so I was so ready to finally check it off the list. It was a HUGE project though, and although I don’t shy away from DIY-ing projects (like painting my kitchen cabinets) I decided to hire out for this one. And I’m so glad that I did!!

As for paint, I was really picky with the color. I know…white is white. But I really wanted a bright white with a hint of warmth, not too warm that it came across yellow, but not too white that it came across cool-toned. There is so much light in that room that I was afraid of it looking too cool-toned & cold..I really want the room to have a cozy vibe.

A lot of you guys suggested Alabaster from Sherwin Williams, and I love that color! It’s actually the color I painted my kitchen. But I was afraid it would be a little too bright, and I think it would have been if I had gone with that color. Instead, I went with a color in the same family exactly 1 shade darker – Westhighland White. And it is PERFECT. It’s a beautiful bright off-white with a hint of creaminess and warmth. Bingo!

If you’re curious what other colors I looked at, the other two in the running were Marshmallow and Dover White (both Sherwin Williams). In the picture they probably all look the same, but in person I could notice subtle differences (I think the painter thought I was crazy lol). Marshmallow was too cool-toned and the Dover White was a bit too yellow and just not as bright as I was looking for.

Okay now for the fun part!! The before & afters! I am so in love with how this project came out!

The before……

…And the after!!

Simply changing the color completely transformed the look & feel of this room. I am so obsessed! And I love how all of the wood detail still shows, it adds a lot of character and I like the feel it brings.

Next up – replace the old green carpet (woof) and get a new ceiling fan. I’m thinking a industrial or black farmhouse type fan…but we will see! And as for flooring, we’re thinking of going with a tile that gives a wood floor look. Stay tuned!

How do you guys think it came out??

xx Becca
